NMSWANA is Now Accepting Applications for the Board of Directors

Do you have knowledge and ideas that can help the NMSWANA Roadrunner Chapter achieve its’ mission of inspiring and supporting our fellow Solid Waste/Recycling professionals to responsibly manage solid waste resources? Can you help with education, training, events, or legislative actions to support your colleagues in the industry? Do you want to get more involved, meet new people, and increase your own skills? Then please consider running for the NMSWANA Board of Directors! We need your involvement and representation- from all across the State of New Mexico; public, private, and Tribal organizations!

Interested candidates must be a member of the NMSWANA Roadrunner Chapter. Please fill out the attached application to let us know more about you. Deadline for submittals is May 5 at 5:00 p.m. to jlw505nm@gmail.com

Elections will be held electronically and voting will be open from May 18 until June 18. New Board members will be announced at the Annual Meeting (virtual) on June 18.

Who is eligible to be a Board Director?

We are looking for diverse representation of all of the sectors that our chapter represents. Most Board meetings are held virtually, so we especially encourage candidates from Tribal and rural areas across the state; as well as other organizations that have been previously underrepresented on the board due to the difficulties of travel.

Board members must be NMSWANA members in good standing. Check your membership, and renew if needed!

Time Commitment

Board meetings are held once a month for 1.5 hours, and most meetings are virtual. Some meetings may be held in-person for more in-depth planning and relationship building; however, we will attempt to virtually include those who cannot travel. We may schedule a Board Planning Retreat in lieu of regular Board Meeting that would be several hours of a workday.

Additionally, we hold an Annual Chapter Meeting once a year that is approximately a six hour event.

Committees

There are several committees of the Board, and we expect members to be involved in at least one committee.

Programs and Events

We ask that Board members make the effort to be involved in special programs or events as their time allows. Our biggest event is the State Road-e-o driving competition that supports and celebrates our landfill and collections operator’s unique skills.
